Retromigration – Kush Calls
Where Last Year At Marienbad begins. Amsterdam-based Retromigration, with Nigerian and Ghanaian roots and a jazz bassist's hands, makes raw, melodic house out of laid-back grooves, careful sampling and basslines placed just right. Hip-hop feel, jazz instinct, house motion: relaxed but purposeful, raw but polished. Rather than heavy gestures, Kush Calls works through warmth, feel and a careful balance of instrumental detail.
